Being A President

At last I know how it feels like to be an American President. I have to say that if someone had phoned me up at 0600 hrs and told me I had just won the Noble Peace Prize and the $1 million that goes with it, I would of course be very grateful, overjoyed at the unexpected windfall and more than a little surprised. After all I have done nothing that warrants the award, I am not even thinking of doing anything that warrants the award. So as I would be really, really surprised, I share the same experience as President Barack Obama, when he did actually get woken at 0600 hrs the other day, to be told that he had indeed won the famous peace prize.

I mean what is going on here, the President seems a really nice guy and is without doubt exactly what America needs at this time, but he has only been in power for 9 months and it seems that the prize was awarded to him in principal just 2 months after he took over. This is the Obama craze gone mad, what has he done to win this and again I think I share this view with the President himself. After all he is still waging wars across the globe, peace in Pakistan is balancing on a very thin knife edge, Afghanistan is far from peaceful and Iraq is still pretty much a no go area. I guess you could say not putting missiles into Turkey or where ever he was planning to put them, is a step in the right direction but that move came months after it was agreed to give him the award. In any case, is not doing something that was only a plan for the future really a major step forward for world peace? No I can honestly say that I know what it feels like to be an American President, okay I haven't got the stress of great office, I'm not interfering with gang wars in Chicago and I am not trying to find alternative homes for some undesirable prisoners currently sunning themselves in Cuba, but like President Barack Obama I am dumfounded as to why he has been awarded the Noble Peace Prize.

One can only wonder what past holders of the award must feel, Nelson Mandela for example, or those nice ladies from Northern Ireland who struggled daily to bring real peace to a troubled land.

Hang on I've got it, I know exactly why President Obama has been give this Peace Award. He turfed George W Bush out on his ear, okay I know his time was up and he was going anyway, but to be involved in that process must qualify for some sort of an award. Yes it all makes sense now, taking all power from George W does warrant a peace prize. As for the million dollars I am sure the President has no use for that, so maybe as I share his world I may get a share of it, who knows crazy things do happen.
