3 Little Minutes

Just before I left for a trip to South East Asia I was in the truck listening to the radio only to hear someone interviewing New York self proclaimed singing sensation Madam Gaga. Having had three consecutive hits with her first three singles, she is now claiming that she will be bigger than Madonna, how many time have we heard that before. The trick is can you remember any of these flash in the pans that made that claim. But Madam Gaga is certainly not slow in self promotion, claiming herself to be gifted and relies on the fact that she writes her songs in 3 minutes flat as evidence of this. I do not know if you have been lucky enough to hear any of her songs but its surprising they took 3 minutes to write, unless she means she wrote them all in 3 minutes. She also goes on to give a clue as to how she lives her life, as she claims most of the songs are written whilst having sex, so that would be 3 minutes for everything then.

I think that anyone who has three hits straight off is actually performing songs that are topical and in fashion now, right this minute. They are not being innovative, breaking new ground with new sounds, just churning out what is already available. There have been a few who have had hit after hit and never heard of again, but your Madonna's actually start off with limited success and then suddenly bang they are there. Madonna enjoyed some success as a singer but it could be argued that her performance on Live Aid really launched her into what she is today. I have seen Madam Gaga live on the Brit awards, but that didn't launch her into hyperspace. So I am sorry to tell you that Madam Gaga is not going to be bigger than Madonna, she is not going to be the sound of the future, she will just fade away as musical trends move on, and if you think otherwise then you must be Gaga.EndFragment
